Parent Teacher Conferences

Thursday is Parent Teacher Conferences. Feel free to schedule a conference or stop by the art room (121). I am looking forward to seeing all the Hoover community members.

Art Reminder

Hello Hoover Parents,

Please ensure student(s) come to art class with appropriate clothing. Art smocks are always provided in art class. The smocks are located to the left of the sink and students are allowed to pick up a smock when entering the room. Students are alway encouraged to wear a smock until they are walking out of the room. Please encourage the art students to wear a smock the ENTIRE art class. Below is an art schedule by team. Please contact myself or the classroom teacher for the specific art day.

It is my goal to keep students as clean as possible. However, the art making process is messy.

Spring Break

Enjoy your spring break. Take time to create art. The Milwaukee Art Museum is alway a place to spend the afternoon. 

A fun way to apply math skills, cooking skills, and art skills is to create art dough. The following website has an excellent receipt.

High Interest Day - Art Room

Hoover is celebrating high interest day. Students are taking part in four different activities lead by community volunteers.

Sneak Preview

All 4/5th graders will be starting SRINK ART! Stay tuned to see the SRINK ART in progress! 

Fair Housing

Students have been learning about Fair Housing. Students created posters demonstrating understanding of Fair Housing. Poster are being submitted to West Allis City Hall for judging.

Space

Team Pride students are learning about space during inquiry. In art class, students expanded on content knowledge and created spaceships and planets.

Planets

Students in Team Reach are creating their very own planets. They are combing features from plants they are learning about in class. It was a messy day in art, but they had fun. Can you see the red spot from Mars on any of the planets?

Youth Art Month

It was wonderful seeing all the Hoover and Franklin families today. In case you were not able to see the show today, it is open through March.

James Rizzi Homes

Students are exploring shape and form. Homes are inspired by modern artist James Rizzi. Students are tasked with building a 3D paper form in the style of James Rizzi.

Life Long Learner

The teacher becomes the student at night at MIAD. Art and learning should not stop after college. Art is a life long process in constant development. The picture below is a still life that myself and other students were drawing.

Snow Days = Art Days

Looking for something to do on a snow day? Try SNOW Painting. Snow painting is simple and will keep the kids creating all day long. All you need is a spray bottle and some food coloring. Mix the food coloring with water in the spray bottle and go paint the snow. For an educational twist only mix primary colors (red, yellow, and blue.) Ask the kids to make a rainbow with as many colors as they can CREATE! 

Milwaukee Art Museum

Looking for some engaging educational art experiences with youth? Check out the Milwaukee Art Museum Generation Studio! The MAM has many free days throughout the month. Look at the MAM site for details.

Youth Art Month

The WAWM art teachers are displaying artwork for YAM at the WAWM administration building.  Hope to see all the artists on Sunday between 1 - 4 pm for the reception.
